The training was organized and fully funded by Georgian International University GIU, with a special emphasis on the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE).
The program brought together modern international practices in medical education, innovative teaching methodologies, and effective approaches to assessment systems. Its primary goal was to support the professional development of academic, invited, and administrative staff, strengthen alignment with contemporary medical education standards, and elevate the quality of teaching to a new level.
The training was conducted by Eka Ekaladze, a highly experienced specialist in the field of medical education, member of the Sectoral Council of Medicine, co-author of the medical sectoral document, and Head of the Medical Education Association.
The program was based on international standards and best practices, including the recommendations of WFME and AMEE, while fully considering the requirements defined by Georgia’s sectoral benchmarks.
Within the framework of the training, participants worked on important topics such as:
- Applying outcome-oriented and competency-based approaches;
- Using “constructive alignment” in curriculum and teaching planning;
- Implementing active learning methods;
- Effectively conducting clinical teaching;
- Delivering effective feedback;
- Ensuring the teaching and assessment of professionalism and communication skills;
- Using modern assessment tools;
- Developing assessment rubrics and checklists;
- Designing OSCE stations;
- Ensuring the reliability and validity of assessment methods.
Interactive sessions, practical workshops, and group-based activities enabled participants to connect theoretical knowledge with real academic and clinical practice.
This training represents an important step toward the development of modern, quality-oriented, and internationally aligned medical education at the university.
