Interest Clubs
GIU Student Interest Clubs
At Georgian International University (GIU), student-led clubs operate based on shared interests, passions, and academic or extracurricular fields.
These clubs provide students with a platform to connect, engage in relevant activities, and help foster a healthy and vibrant campus environment.
To form a new interest-based club, a minimum of three students with a shared interest is required.
Benefits of Registering or Joining a Club:
Participation in themed events and projects under the club’s name
Eligibility to apply for grant-funded initiatives
Opportunity to represent the university at external events
Logistical and organizational support from the university
Access to university campus spaces for club activities
Use of university-provided technical equipment
Eligibility for financial support for projects

Club Categories and Funding Model
GIU uses a structured categorization system to support and evaluate student interest clubs. Each category has its own criteria and funding eligibility.
Category III – New or Low-Activity Clubs
Newly established or operating for less than 1 year
Minimum of 3 completed successful projects
Member count: 3 to 15
Funding limit: up to ₾300 per project
Required: basic expense report and brief project summary after each event
Category II – Mid-Level Activity Clubs
Operating for at least 2 years
Minimum of 6 completed successful projects
Member count: 10 to 30
Funding limit: up to ₾1,000 per project
Required: detailed expense report and event documentation (photos/videos)
Category I – High-Impact, Experienced Clubs
Operating for at least 3 years and recognized on campus
Minimum of 10 major projects with demonstrated student impact
Member count: 20+
Funding limit: up to ₾5,000 per project
Required: full financial report, detailed project evaluation, and community engagement analysis
Opportunities for Growth and Advancement
To upgrade from Category III to Category II, a club must complete 6 successful projects and operate for at least 1 year
To upgrade from Category II to Category I, a club must complete 10 impactful projects and operate for at least 2 years
Category I clubs may pursue additional funding through university partnerships and international grants
