Buddy Program at GIU
Be the friend others can count on!

The Buddy Program at Georgian International University (GIU) offers a unique opportunity for students who want to actively engage in campus life and support incoming international students during their adaptation period. The goal of the program is to create a friendly and supportive environment that eases the transition into university life for newcomers.

What does the Buddy Program offer?

Personal Development & Skill-Building Workshops
Participants take part in a series of practical sessions and workshops aimed at building essential skills, including:

  • Effective communication

  • Teamwork and collaboration

  • Mentorship and guidance

  • Conflict resolution

  • Leadership

  • Cross-cultural competence

Priority in Exchange Programs
Students who participate in the Buddy Program receive priority in GIU’s international exchange programs, as they already demonstrate hands-on experience in cross-cultural engagement and student mentorship.

Cultural Days
Buddies help organize and participate in events dedicated to different countries and cultures. These Cultural Days foster an inclusive, globally minded university atmosphere, and create space for both international and local students to share and celebrate their diversity.

Joining the Buddy Program means:

  • Making new friendships

  • Developing leadership and mentoring skills

  • Gaining international experience right on campus

  • And most importantly – supporting someone who truly needs your help
