Program Objectives
The program objectives are for the student to:
- Teach all components of journalism as a unified media system, the main provisions of the theory, the main principles, and the stages of development of the field;
- Acquire the ability to regulate and self-regulate journalism;
- Develop the ability to use the state language in practice and form the ability to gradually prepare a media text (print, audio, video, new media);
- Develop the ability to establish written and oral communication with the respondent, colleagues, sources, and small groups in Georgian and English;
- Select optimal forms and methods of reporting reality, taking into account the specifics of the target audience, the informational reason and the current topic;
- Develop the ability to absorb news and constantly improve one’s own learning;
- Develop the ability to prepare media products for print, broadcast and new media using modern technologies;
- Develop the ability to plan and organize studio and outdoor filming/recording, the ability to use studio editing, editing and other specific program elements.

After completing the educational program, the graduate:
Knowledge and understanding:
I. List all components of a unified media system of journalism and their functions; the main provisions and principles of the theory, the stages of development of the field;
II. Describes the principles of regulation and self-regulation of journalism
Skills:
III. Demonstrates the ability to use the state language in practice when communicating on issues related to the profession; Develops all stages of consistent preparation of a media text (print, audio, video, new media);
IV. Demonstrates the ability to communicate in writing and orally with a respondent, colleagues, source, and small groups in Georgian and English;
V. Selects optimal forms and methods of reporting reality, taking into account the specifics of the target audience, informational occasion, and topical topic;
VI. Uses modern technologies to prepare media products for print, broadcast, and new media;
VII. Plans studio and outdoor filming/recording, studio editing using elements of specific programs.
Responsibility and autonomy:
VIII. Establishes the requirements of the learning process for the purpose of planning and implementing one’s own/other’s learning;
VI. Evaluates professional ethics in the field of mass media, international standards and understands one’s responsibility for the importance of using the state language; Understands the role of the media in strengthening democratic values, evaluates professional international standards and understands one’s responsibility for the importance of using the state language.
