The event was jointly organized by the Georgian International University GIU, China International Education College and the Confucius Institute of Alte University.
Chinese language students and Chinese teachers performed musical and cultural performances: dragon dance, traditional Chinese dances, songs, musical performances on traditional Chinese instruments, etc.
The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Dai Chunyong, Counselor of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China; Professor Eli Elisashvili, Rector of the Georgian International University GIU, and Mr. Zhang Wengang, Director of the Confucius Institute at the Alte University.
The event also featured a presentation of the English-taught bachelor’s program in Sinology at Georgian International University GIU. This is the first English-taught bachelor’s program in Sinology in Georgia, whose academic staff consists of highly qualified Georgian and Chinese sinologists. The program offers students the latest teaching approaches, exchange programs, internships, and diverse employment opportunities.
A presentation of the latest school textbook of Chinese language, called ,,Happy Chinese”, was also organized. The Georgian edition of the textbook was edited by the Rector of GIU, Professor Eli Elisashvili, and the academic staff of GIU, Associate Professor Lika Gablishvili. The textbook has already been distributed to students who started studying Chinese in public schools this year.
At the end of the event, the winners of the second competition of Chinese hieroglyphs writing, organized by China International Education College, were awarded certificates and memorable gifts.
