Strategy for the development of the scientific activities of the International University of Georgia GIU

The strategy for the development of the scientific activity of the International University of Georgia determines the institutional approaches related to scientific activity, the principles, mechanisms, and tools for evaluating scientific activity. The strategy aims to develop scientific activity and increase its quality, as well as to improve the processes of integration of scientific research activity in teaching/learning processes.

Academic freedom is regarded as a guiding principle by the university in carrying out scientific activities; on the other hand, those involved in scientific activities should carry out their activities with academic integrity, a focus on quality, and motivation to strengthen the abilities of the young generation.

The university, following the profiles of its faculties, determines priority research areas once a year; during the determination of research priorities, the interests of society and the specific problems facing it should be taken into account and satisfied, within the limits of possibilities. The university allocates financial, material, and human resources to set research priorities.

The university’s scientific research operations should serve the interests of students; thus, the outcomes of scientific activities should be actively incorporated into the teaching-learning process.

For the success of its scientific activities, the university intends to collaborate with other higher education institutions, research institutions, corporate and governmental organizations, and international universities to conduct or participate in joint research.

• motivating academic staff to conduct scientific activities and use the results of these activities in the educational process to ensure the unity of scientific and educational activities;
• Identifying, inspiring, and providing all-around support to students engaged in research activities; supporting the scientific activities of young employees;
• and promoting the advancement of academic staff’s scientific credentials. Creating circumstances for the university’s intellectual potential to be commercialized.

• Improving scientific activity organization and management procedures;
• Provide informational and consulting services for academic staff in connection with current and planned scientific events, including the activities of programs/projects of national and international scientific foundations;
• provision of publication of collections of scientific works, monographs, and journals;
• Increase in administrative (promoting the preparation of programs, and projects) and financial support for academic staff’s scientific activities;
• Development of a system of encouraging academic staff’s scientific activity; development of targeted scientific-research project development, competition, and internal grant obtaining rules; announcement of contests, and project selection;
• raising the quality of bachelor’s and master’s theses, involving students in scientific activities
