On May 13, 2023, students of Georgian International University (GIU) took part in the Georgia PUAC Taekwondo Festival, hosted at Tavartkiladze University and organized by Korean partners.
The festival featured a rich cultural and athletic program, including:
Live Taekwondo demonstrations
Performances by the Taeguek Jang Group
Speed kicking and board breaking showcases
A Hanbok (traditional Korean clothing) presentation
Thematic awards and symbolic gifts
GIU law student Giorgi Gelenidze won a competition during the event and was awarded a prize, proudly representing the university.
Participation in this international festival sparked growing interest in Taekwondo within the GIU community and inspired concrete steps toward establishing long-term opportunities in this sport.
Formation of the Class – 2024
In 2024, Georgian International University officially launched a Taekwondo class, open to GIU students and the wider community.
The training is led by a qualified Taekwondo master, who brings a blend of traditional Korean martial arts and modern personal development techniques.
The program covers both technical and physical training, as well as mental focus and discipline.
The Taekwondo class has become a space where students develop self-defense skills, improve concentration and confidence, and take part in a broader cultural learning experience.
