Third Mission
Third Mission Statement
In addition to its academic and research mission, Georgian International University (GUI) fully shares and serves the essence of the university’s third mission – community-oriented development, social responsibility and civic engagement.
The foundation of GUI’s third mission lies in the belief that the university should be an active participant in the country’s economic, social and cultural life, which is determined by adapting knowledge, experience and innovative resources to the needs of the civil sector and society.
For us, the third mission involves:
Public education-oriented projects – trainings, seminars, public lectures and open university platforms;
Participation in social and regional development processes – with the involvement of local governments and public organizations;
Strengthening cultural and civic values – with the active support of youth, schoolchildren and citizens;
Promoting student and academic volunteerism, which strengthens a culture of social cohesion and mutual respect;
Collaborating with representatives of the private, public and third sectors focused on inclusive and sustainable development.
GIU believes that the third mission is not an additional function, but an organic part of the university’s strategic vision, which is based on the values of openness, partnership and the creation of public benefit.
