On May 16, 2025, the workshop “When Anxiety Doesn’t Stop You” was held at the Georgian International University GIU, organized by the Student Self Government.

The meeting was led by the psychologist Ms. Natia Obgaidze – PhD candidate in Applied Social Psychology, Associate Professor, Associate member of the Trainers’ Association, member of the Georgian Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy Society.

The speaker, together with the students, talked about anxiety – what it really is and what our relationship with it is.

In addition, the meeting included such topics as:

  • How anxiety “works” in our body and mind.
  • The cycle of anxiety and the “vicious circle” in which we often retreat;
  • Why we cannot “overcome” anxiety before we realize it.

The workshop participants learned that anxiety is not only an enemy, but also a protective mechanism of our psyche.

The speaker focused on the specific, effective steps that we can undertake when we are anxious.

The participants performed practical exercises, shared their experiences about anxiety and talked about triggers and ways to overcome anxiety.
